Target Group

This training is aimed at 3D artists and productions that want to integrate Solid Angle Arnold 5 in their rendering pipeline. Thereby the needs especially of smaller productions will be taken into consideration. Autodesk Maya 2018 is the 3D package that will be worked with.

Aim

In this training you will learn the technical background to Arnold 5 and the different rendering methods that will be used. In that way we will create a practical basis for an optimized use of this renderer.

Arnold 5 is a highly specified Monte Carlo Raytracing Renderer, which is used in workflows for feature films and vfx. This renderer was developed in collaboration with Sony Pictures Imageworks and is now used in over 250 studios worldwide. The customer list includes names such as ILM, Framestore, The Mill and Digic Pictures.

Arnold was the main renderer in films such as Monster House, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Pacific Rim and Gravity and has long been regarded as a "secret weapon" of film studios.

Meanwhile, Arnold is available as a stand-alone renderer for Linux, Windows and Mac OS X, including integration plugins for Maya, Softimage and Houdini.

His strength lies in his ease of use, his good integration and especially his photo-realistic approach.
