Content and Description of the Training:

A daily task in VFX production is the integration of 3D or Character Animations and Dynamics Simulations into real films and their photorealistic compositing. Here are a whole series of interlocking steps necessary. In larger productions these are often distributed to different operators or even departments, but nevertheless the artist should have an overview and basic know-how about all these steps. This is exactly where these pixeltrain Production Days start off.

Beginning with the shot organization and building up a meaningful work structure in NUKE Studio, we import the cut and distribute our tasks. Then you learn the 3D camera tracking in NUKEX and we discuss many Do & Dont's for better preparation on set. You will also learn how to solve basic Roto and painting tasks, as well as the first steps in Keying.

We perform our 3D work as an example in Autodesk Maya. Here we block parts of geometry, learn Camera Projections, create first small Simulations and then complete the scene with a small Character Animation. The rendering then takes place in ARNOLD or V-RAY 3.3 (Maya), whereby the work with AOVs / Multipasses and their use is discussed.

The final compositing and the addition of stock footage and effects will be done in NUKE. Then, the plates are adjusted in NUKE / NUKE Studio in that way, that a seamlessly integration of 3D and Realplage is achieved.

At the end of this pixeltrain Production Days you will be familiar with a typical VFX workflow and can transfer this know-how to other software products if required.

Content and Description of the Training:

Especially the indie games market is a market with great growth opportunities for artists from the 3D & VFX area.

But also more and more industrial customers are looking for interactive presentations and new possibilities of product presentation.

What would it be like to be able to move live through a planned building or really be able to control a machine and to be able to view the animations photorealistically?

Target platforms include consoles, desktop computers (Mac + PC) and mobile devices (iPad, iPhone). Therefore, it is time to engage in the creation of game assets and first own games.

Here you find a first glimpse: unity3d.com/unity

UNITY 3D offers the beginner a simple, intuitive way to create first games and interactive presentations. The UNITY Editor is available for free in the Personal Edition (!) for Windows and Mac. Creating levels, assets and logics is very easy. If you want more, you can create simple scripts via JavaScript or C #. You can easily import animated assets from Maya, CINEMA 4D & Co.

In these three days you will learn the editor of UNITY 3D and the creation of your first game and gameplay. In addition, you get an introduction to the first scripting tasks with C # (do not worry, there are many ready-made code snippets).

This workflow is suitable for beginners - so let's go!

Study-Topic:

Rigging & Animation for technical Visualization
in MAXON Cinema 4D

CINEMA 4D is well-known for its very clearly structured interface and the very broad spectrum of performance of the studio version. Therefore Cinema 4D is very good to be worked with for any kind of technical visualization and animation.

Especially in modern technical animation, the boundaries between simple animation, complex rigs for components and vfx simulatons are becoming more and more blurred. This is why the technical 3D artist has to know how to use tools which are normally used in rigging, simulations, fluids, particles and MoGraph.

And this exactly will be the topic of these Production Days Spring! You will get to know the tools from the character-, simulation-, and MoGraph-Menu in a practical way in order to solve your daily tasks in the technical animation - whether you come from mechnical engineering, automotive, medicine or a completely different area.

Content:

  • animate effectively
  • Rigging-Tools for mechanic objects
  • CMotion
  • Constraints
  • MoGraph
  • Dynamics - Rigid & Softbodies
  • Spline-Dynamics & Hair-System for technical purpose
  • XPRESSO Crashkurs
  • A Bite of Python
  • X-Particles for Particle-Simulations
  • Fluids SPH & FLIP with X-Particles
  • Turbulence FD for Smoke, Fire & Plasma
