Allegorithmic Substance Designer is the industry standard for the creation of PBR textures ( Physically Based Rendering).


The creation of these Substances is node-based, non-linear and thus non-destructive. Complex, high-quality node trees, which can then be provided with parameters, can be displayed in a very clear way. Substance Designer offers a huge number of special nodes for patterns, noises, gradients, color-corrections and much more. Seamlessly tileable materials, which are almost independent of the resolution, are possible.


The integrated real-time renderer NVIDEA IRAY can be used to control the result immediately.


If one is satisfied several applications are possible. The easiest way is the built-in Baking-Engine, which can be used to create texture-, normal- and displacement-maps for render engines such as VRAY, ARNOLD, PIXARs RenderMan, or even standard renderers from CINEMA 4D.


The work with the Substance itself is more flexible. In Autodesk Maya, Autodesk 3D Max, Modo, UNITY 5, UNREAL Engine 4 and CINEMA 4D, there are (free) plugins to use Substances directly there. This allows subsequent parameter changes on the fly. 



To learn and study, there is a highly discounted Indie version of both products available.


Target Group

This Substance Designer Training is for artists who want to build a professional, procedural texture pipeline. These can come from the game, but also from the product visualization, architecture or automotive sector.



After this training, you will be able to build complex photorealistic Substances using the Substance Designer Nodes.
